For smile design we use techniques that go from gum remodeling, dental bleaching or whitening, including restorations in colored resin that are similar to the natural teeth, to more advanced systems like porcelain.

DENTAL WHITENING 

We use clinical, home or a combination of both methods:

·         At our clinic we offer LASER, LED or ZOOM ADVANTAGE POWER lamps which put out different kinds of light which, when combined with a whitening gel (35% hydrogen peroxide) and applied to the teeth during approximately one hour, can bleach the teeth’s original color by 4 tones.  This procedure can be repeated the following week.

·         At home we use prefab dental trays for both dental arches (after a dental impression), applying a whitening gel called carbamide peroxide inside them, at concentrations of 10%, 15% or 16% depending on the dentist’s criteria.  The treatment consists of applying the gel for approximately 3 hours a day for 2 to 3 weeks.

·         Combined: the two aforementioned techniques are combined, beginning with the lamp, continuing with the gel at home, and repeating the process.

Recommendations:

·         Patients must attend a prior diagnostic appointment where the dentist will go into detail regarding the required treatment.

·         During the treatment there may be sensitivity which varies from patient to patient, that’s why we recommend certain toothpaste or mouthwash before, during and after the treatment which will greatly mitigate said sensitivity.

·         The initial tooth tone must be recorded along with the patient, so that at the end of the treatment a color chart can be used to see how much whiter the teeth are.
